After becoming the kidsnet’s top-rated premiere for an animated series since 2009, the new GC-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series has been renewed by Nickelodeon for a second season.

The new series debuted on September 29 and took the week’s top ratings spot with kids ages two to 11 and boys ages six to 11 across all TV. Nearly 12 million viewers tuned in during its premiere weekend.

Twenty-six new episodes have been ordered by Nick that will begin airing in 2013. In addition, the brand’s licensing program continues to make strides as its new toy line from Playmates Toys was recently named to Toys ‘R’ Us’ Hot Toy List for the holiday season.
