Germany’s Super RTL has snapped up CGI-animated series Pirates, Adventures in Art from Canada’s DHX Media.

Broadcasters already airing the 46 x 12-minute, art-themed series for kids ages four to six include KBS (Asia), Kids Talk Talk (Korea), Mediacorp (Singapore), Astro (Malaysia) and Discovery Kids (Latin America).

Commissioned by Canadian pubcaster CBC, the series follows a band of bohemian pirates, led creative Captain Leonardo and the de-throned Princess Cleo, who have both escaped the depressing kingdom of Queen Conformia. To reclaim individual expression to the kingdom and restore Princess Cleo to her place on the throne, the pirates journey the world to research and collect as much art knowledge as they can.
