Toronto-based Shaftesbury Sales Company and its L.A.-based subsidiary Shaftesbury US will debut the first two animated Mighty Mighty Monsters specials from new British Columbia, Canada’s indie animation studio Bron Animation at MIPJunior and MIPCOM 2012.

The two x 44-minute HD specials, Halloween Havoc and New Fears Eve, are shot using performance capture animation and are based on the book series written and created by Sean Patrick O’Reilly. Original music from acclaimed Canadian rock band Broken Social Scene is also featured in both specials.

Mighty Mighty Monsters, developed by Bron’s creative directors Gil Rimmer and Ben Burden Smith, focuses around a group of classic movie monster kids— Frankenstein-esque Frankie, wolfman Gunnar and vampire Vlad—who are expelled from monster school and sent to a human immersion program at a “normal” human middle school where they come face to face with terrifying tween culture.

A third special, Howl at the Moon, is expected for 2013.
