As part of its commitment to business growth in China, Toys ‘R’ Us will open its first stores in Beijing this weekend.

Two new stores will debut in the capital city, and an additional two stores will open in September, one in Tianjing Galaxy Mall in Northern China and Nanning Mixc in Southern China.

This Saturday, the official grand opening of the second Toys ‘R’ Us/Babies ‘R’ Us side-by-side store in China will also take place at CapitaMall Taiyanggong in Beijing, and a 14,000 sq. ft. Toys ‘R’ Us location in Chaoyang Joy City will open simultaneously. Two stand-alone locations in Tianjing Galaxy Mall and Nanning Mixc will follow in September.

By the end of September, the toyco giant will operate 30 stores across 21 cities throughout China.

The latest round of store openings come after Toys ‘R’ Us took a majority stake in Li & Fung’s existing retail operations of TRU stores throughout Southeast Asia and Greater China in October 2011.

To date, more than 100 locations in Southeast Asia and Greater China are operated by Toys ‘R’ Us and 14 stores in the Philippines and Macau continue to be operated under a license agreement.
