Hollow Earth, a children’s fantasy-adventure book by authors John Barrowman (Dr. Who, Torchwood) and his sister Carole Barrowman, has been optioned for development as a kids drama series by Zodiak Kids UK prodco The Foundation.

Television rights were optioned from Capel & Land and The Foundation is partnering with production company Barrowman Barker Productions (founded by John Barrowman and Gavin Barker) to develop the first title of the adventure trilogy.

Hollow Earth, the first children’s book by the Barrowmans, follows the adventures of 12-year-old twins with special powers who are sought after by villains longing to access Hollow Earth – a place where demons and devils lie trapped for eternity.

Published by Buster Books (an imprint of Michael O’Mara Books) in the UK in February, Hollow Earth has sold more than 28,000 copies to date.  The book is also set to be published in the US on October 30 after Capel & Land recently inked a deal with US publisher Aladdin (a Simon & Schuster imprint).
