Turner Broadcasting UK has greenlit a second season of its live-action preschool series Cartoonito Tales, which is set to air on preschool channel Cartoonito later this year.

Ten x 12-minute episodes of the in-house produced storytelling-themed series have been commissioned with production beginning in London this summer and Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous, Gracie!) returning as its narrator.

Cartoonito Tales brings classic stories like Thumbelina, Treasure Island, and Peter Pan to life by starting the story in the real world and transporting preschoolers to a magical one when characters venture through a mysterious mouse hole.

Turner Broadcasting’s UK creative director Brett Davey is the series creator and executive producer. Woods Film is on-board as co-producer, while writing duties are handled by in-house production co-ordinator Emma Boucher.

Cartoonito Tales first aired in 2011 and has since been picked up by a number of Turner Broadcasting channels across Europe, including Germany, the Nordics and Central Eastern Europe.
