A second season of The Basketeers from Paris, France-based Tele Images Productions will bow on both M6 and Disney XD in 2013. Production of 26 x 26-minute new episodes is set to kick off this September with coproduction partner studio I Can Fly. Tele Images is part of Zodiak Kids, Zodiak Media’s children’s production and distribution arm.
The Basketeers has been ranking number one on the children’s slot M6 KID on Saturdays (Source, Mediamat-Mediamétrie MMW, February 2012).
In addition, Tele Images Productions and M6 Interactions are pleased to announce that Turbocar will launch a range of car and bicycle accessories aimed at children. Other licensees include Hachette (novelties), Jungle (comics), SND (DVD), Tennessee (back to school), D’Arpèje (outdoor products) and La Plume Dorée (stationery).
Zodiak Kids also recently concluded a raft of TV sales for series one of The Basketeers including ZDF for the German Public channel KiKA (Kinderkanal), Canal Panda (Portugal), Canal+ (Poland), Pop TV (Pro Plus) in Slovenia and RTS (Switzerland) who has acquired both seasons.
The second season of The Basketeers will see the team of five teenage boys and girls, led by NBA All-Star Tony Parker, play the international street basketball tournament in various countries all over the world against teams that are tougher than ever. Created by Sylvain Dos Santos, this new season will be directed by Bruno Bligoux (Street Football, The Basketeers season 1).
Zodiak Rights owns worldwide distribution rights to The Basketeers, while the licensing rights are held by M6 Interactions.
