Independent app developer Lima Sky has named Eric Karp as its chief licensing officer in a move to develop and create consumer products based on its kid-friendly app properties.

Effective immediately, Karp, who was most recently the head of licensing for the Americas at Moshi Monsters’ creator Mind Candy, will be responsible for overseeing the consumer products programs of Lima Sky’s IPs, including efforts around top-rated game app Doodle Jump.

On Doodle Jump, Karp, who will be based in New York, will work closely with Lima Sky founder Igor Pusenjak and appointed global agent FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), which acquired the worldwide licensing rights to the top-25 iPhone app from Lima Sky in January.

Following other top app-based properties like Angry Birds and Cut the Rope into the merchandising world, Lima Sky will look to capitalize on Doodle Jump‘s March 2012 status as the number three all-time top paid iPhone app (Apple) and its more than 40 million downloads.

The appointment also comes as Lima Sky is set to launch a new ninja-themed Doodle Jump world later this month.
