The Pet Network Canada has lapped up season two of Toronto, Canada-based animation prodco Kol TV’s pet-themed animated kids series Kol’s World.

The series, which is the first animated kids series to feature a physically challenged child hero in a wheelchair, is targeted to kids ages four to 11 and follows the daily adventures of eight-year-old Kol and his two best friends Terry the Pup and Bella the Bird who learn life lessons emphasizing teamwork, friendship, education, honesty, and determination.

Kol’s World is based on a real boy (Kol Rustia) who was born with a genetic syndrome rendering him unable to walk. Executive producer Jeff Rustia is the real-life father of Kol.

Kol TV produces the series, which debuted to strong ratings in December 2011, in association with The Pet Network, and with support from the Canada Media Fund (CMF), CAVCO and OMDC.

Upcoming tie-ins for the series include an iTunes album that will launch later in the year featuring original songs from the series.

Kol’s World airs every Tuesday and Thursday at 12 noon and 6 p.m. ET.
