Channel 5′s preschool brand Milkshake! has commissioned UK-based Komixx Entertainment to produce season two of the stop-frame animated preschool series Toby’s Travelling Circus.

The deal, which will see Komixx produce 52 x 10-minute additional episodes of the series for broadcast beyond 2013, comes before season one has aired.

Set to make its debut on Milkshake this fall, Toby’s Travelling Circus follows the story of a seven year-old boy who also happens to be the ringleader of his own magical travelling circus.

Principal photography for the first episodes of season one has commenced at Manchester’s Mackinnon & Saunders studios and Komixx is already planning a licensing and merchandising program for the series.

The deal comes shortly after the Komixx and Random House Children’s Books UK-based production house Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment (RHCSE) optioned bestselling children’s book Dog Loves Books by author/illustrator Louise Yates.
