Adding to the growth of the Italian Geronimo Stilton brand, the Spanish live musical version of Geronimo Stilton In The Kingdom of Fantasy is set to open March 30 at Teatro La Latina in Madrid, Spain.

The version for Madrid comes after more than 100,000 people attended performances of the Catalan version in Barcelona. The musical also has a Belgian and a Dutch production.

The musical, which is a Focus, Grup 62 coproduction, is based on the Geronimo Stilton In The Kingdom of Fantasy book series that follows the adventures of mouse journalist Geronimo Stilton and his heroic feats with elves, gnomes, and witches that help him save Floridiana, the Queen of Fairies.

Seven volumes of the book series, which have unique scratch and sniff features, have been written to date with more than three million copies sold worldwide.  The Foreign Rights Department of Italy-based Atlantyca Entertainment, which co-produces the animated series, has sold the publication rights to countries including the Netherlands, Spain, France and Poland.

Overall, more than 60 million Geronimo Stilton books have been sold worldwide and the animated series continues to do well after a recent pickup by Italy’s RAI 2.
