Vancouver, Canada-based Nerd Corps Entertainment has appointed ex-Sony exec Juli Boylan to drive its consumer products activities.

In her new position, Boylan, who was previously the SVP of global licensing for Sony Consumer Products managing brands such as Spider-Man and Ghostbusters, will be responsible for building the program around Nerd Corps’ original boy-skewing¬† comedy-action series Slugterra (39 x 22 minutes), which launches on Disney XD globally this fall.

Boylan will also be focused on additional toy, publishing and interactive long lead categories. Toys based on Slugterra should land at retail in spring 2013.

The hiring comes as Nerd Corps ramps up its plans for Slugterra in advance of its fall launch. A recent deal was signed with Televix Entertainment which grants the company free TV distribution rights throughout Latin America. Also in line with the TV launch is a website, Flash adventure game, iPhone and iPad apps, and 39 x one-minute webisodes.

Slugterra follows hero Elias Shane and his crew as they explore caverns and challenge their rivals in a subterranean world.
