Mattel closes HIT acquisition

On the heels of Mattel posting strong 2011 earnings, the world's largest toyco has completed its US$680 million acquisition of children's entertainment producer and rights-owner HIT Entertainment from Apax Partners. The acquisition was first announced on October 24, 2011.

On the heels of Mattel posting strong 2011 earnings, the world’s largest toyco has completed its US$680 million acquisition of children’s entertainment producer and rights-owner HIT Entertainment from Apax Partners. The acquisition was first announced on October 24, 2011.

Fisher-Price EVP David Allmark will undertake direction for the brand portfolios of both HIT (Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Angelina Ballerina) and Fisher-Price. The acquisition sees HIT’s brands also join forces with Mattel’s Barbie, Hot Wheels, and American Girl IPs.
