DreamWorks Animation names head of development

Gregg Taylor has moved into the role of head of development for DreamWorks Animation while Alex Schwartz, who previously held the title since 2008, will become producer on the studio's upcoming animated feature film Mr. Peabody & Sherman, scheduled for release on March 14, 2014.

Gregg Taylor has moved into the role of head of development for DreamWorks Animation while Alex Schwartz, who previously held the title since 2008, will become producer on the studio’s upcoming animated feature film Mr. Peabody & Sherman, scheduled for release on March 14, 2014.

Taylor was most recently a senior development and production exec who headed up DreamWorks Animation’s franchise properties, including the upcoming sequel to How to Train Your Dragon and The Penguins of Madagascar.

In his new role he will be responsible for the development of all DreamWorks Animation projects.

While Schwartz was head of development she oversaw feature film projects such as Rise of the Guardians, Mr. Peabody & Sherman and Trolls (working title).

To date, DreamWorks Animation has released 23 animated feature films, including the Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon. One of its recent deals will turn the Captain Underpants book series into a feature film.
