Jakks scores Marvel license

A line of plush products based on Marvel Super Hero Squad characters from Marvel’s virtual world, HeroUp.com will launch at specialty retailers this spring, and move to mass-market in 2013, thanks to a new deal between toyco Jakks Pacific and Marvel Entertainment.

The agreement also gives Jakks the rights to produce and distribute skill and action games inspired by classic Marvel characters such as The Avengers. The company’s line of Marvel games is expected to launch this spring.

Taking advantage of the interactive toy trend, the plush line will include large interactive plush toys that allow kids to unlock special features on HeroUp.com, where kids can interact with Marvel super heroes online, collect virtual currency, gain membership access and participate in an online trading card game.
