Chinese state broadcaster CCTV is making Aardman Animations’ preschool series Timmy Time available to a potential audience of 1.3 billion viewers on its main station, CCTV1.
Timmy Time first debuted on CCTV1 on November 26 and all episodes from the show’s first three series will be broadcast every Saturday and Sunday morning, with four episodes scheduled to be shown each day. CCTV1 will also air Aardman’s new half hour special, Timmy’s Christmas Surprise, this month.
Timmy Time launched in China on CCTV Kids on October 11, where it drew an audience of more than three million families per day.
Another Aardman show, Shaun the Sheep, also currently airs in China on CCTV Kids and is streamed on four of China’s principal video portals. Retail licensing and merchandising for the property in China include a Shaun the Sheep magazine, plush toys and clothing.
