Oceanhouse Media has teamed up with Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books to bring the non-fiction The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library book series to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Oceanhouse Media, which has made more than 20 original Dr. Seuss books available as apps, has launched the first title in the new digital books series, also known as OmBooks, entitled There’s No Place Like Space!

Aimed at children ages five to eight, The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library – part of Random House’s Beginner Book franchise – is a non-fiction series that revolves around themes of scientific exploration and discovery. The titles feature classic characters from the original The Cat in the Hat, such as The Cat, Sally, Dick, and Thing One and Thing Two.

In There’s No Place Like Space!, for instance, the Cat in the Hat takes Sally and Dick on a trip through the solar system. Users can tap stars in the sky to reveal constellations, learn the order of the planets through a Seussian mnemonic device, search the night sky with a telescope, and access a glossary by tapping on highlighted words.

Additional omBooks based on The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library books will be released in the coming months.
