Toys ‘R’ Us is keeping up with digital-savvy families by expanding its consumer electronics lineup to include prepaid mobile phones, tablet computers, headphones, iPod docks, digital cameras and Apple accessories.
The retailer has redesigned the electronics departments in all of its US stores, which now feature an expanded open floor plan clad with interactive displays. Familiar inventory of family-oriented video games, movies, licensed electronics, musical instruments and karaoke will have a home in the new electronics department as well.
Among the new portable electronic offerings are contract-free cellphones from AT&T, T-Mobile, Net 10 and Tracphone; touchscreen players from Apple, Sony, Samsung, Sandisk, Riptunes, Archos and Sakar; Amazon eReaders like the new Kindle Fire; tablets such as the Sony S1 and Samsung Galaxy; and licensed goods for Apple devices, such as Angry Birds cases.
