Gilt Groupe on a roll with kids retail promotions

On the heels of Gilt Groupe launching a Facebook store and a Nickelodeon promotion, the New York-based online retailer is teaming up with HIT Entertainment on a special Thomas & Friends retail tie-in.

On the heels of Gilt Groupe launching a Facebook store and a Nickelodeon promotion, the New York-based online retailer is teaming up with HIT Entertainment on a special Thomas & Friends retail tie-in.

The Thomas & Friends sale launched on Gilt Children as a three-day exclusive through the Gilt mobile app this past weekend, followed by a retail event on Gilt.com that runs until September 2.

During the sale, consumers will be able to find Thomas & Friends-branded products curated by Gilt’s buyers and offered at a discounted price. Sale offerings include apparel, footwear, toys, books, and home furnishings. The sale will be promoted via the Thomas & Friends website in banner ads, home page promotions, and through newsletters.  In addition, both companies will promote the Thomas & Friends sale through their social media channels.

For its part, Thomas the Tank Engine was the number-one license in the preschool toys category in the US this year, according to The NPD Group.
