PBS Kids has a new animated show in the pipeline inspired by the classic Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood preschool series.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is an animated version of the original Neighborhood of Make Believe and stars the original Mister Rogers characters, all of whom have grown up and now have preschoolers of their own.

The series uses musical strategies grounded in Fred Rogers’ landmark curriculum and music.

Produced by The Fred Rogers Company in association with Out of the Blue Enterprises, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood will launch in fall 2012 on PBS Kids along with a website that will include free, interactive games for kids, online resources for parents and teachers, and other cross-platform content.

9 Story Entertainment is also adding its animation capabilities to the production, and game designer Schell Games will spearhead the series’ digital educational applications.
