Scholastic is once again breaking down the past month’s bestselling books based on purchases made through its US network of in-school book clubs. Read on for the top-five picture books, transitional readers, early chapter books, chapter books, middle grade, young adult and non-fiction from May-June 2011.

The top-five picture books:
