HarperCollins Children’s UK is growing its young fiction list with the acquisition of author Jeanne Willis’ new series, Penguin Pandemonium.

The two-book world rights deal includes TV, film and merchandising. The first book in the series will publish in January 2012 and illustrator Ed Vere will design both book covers.

Penguin Pandemonium tells the tale of a rockhopper penguin who loves showing off and goes to great lengths to save his zoo from closing.

Jeanne Willis has written more than 80 titles. Her ties to the animal world are strong – she has worked as a reptile vet’s assistant and got married at London Zoo.
