BBC Kids Canada names channel director

The all-new BBC Kids Canada is set to relaunch on May 13 with Lisa Purdy as the station’s new channel director.
With more than 20 years of experience in the Canadian film, TV and digital media space, Purdy will now be responsible for strengthening the BBC Kids brand and marketing the commercial-free channel to increase viewership and subscribers. Her appointment follows The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s recent approval of the BBC Worldwide and Knowledge Canada joint-venture.
Featuring a new look on-air, BBC Kids will include Canada’s first CBeebies preschool programming block. The new schedule will feature shows such as Big Babies, Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, M.I. High and new comedies Sadie J and Dead Gorgeous.
