The Youth Media Alliance's 2011 Awards of Excellence Gala will roll into Toronto this summer, and Bonita Siegel and Stephanie Betts will be taking home two special honors.

The Youth Media Alliance’s 2011 Awards of Excellence Gala will roll into Toronto this summer, and Bonita Siegel and Stephanie Betts will be taking home two special honors.

For her work in kids TV programming, Bonita Siegel will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award. She served as an executive producer at the CBC, initially working on prime-time drama series and movies for TV before moving to the kids world at YTV and Treehouse. She served as director, original productions at Corus and now works as a freelancer developing programs and as a creative producer for prodcos at home and abroad.

DHX Media’s Stephanie Betts (pictured) will be presented with the Emerging Talent Award, given to promising professionals 30 years and younger. She studied theatre in L.A. before moving back to Canada to study TV and soon after landed at Atomic Cartoons to work on Atomic Betty. She became part of the Breakthrough Entertainment team and last year joined DHX as VP of development.

The YMA Awards of Excellence Gala will take place on June 2.
