The According to Humphrey children’s book series has been optioned for a television and film adaptation by Irish animation studio Telegael.

The books, which are narrated by a curious classroom hamster named Humphrey, are published in the US by Penguin subsidiary G.P. Putnam’s Sons and in the UK by Faber & Faber. The seventh book in the series will be released this year.

Telegael will work with author Betty Birney on the animated TV series, which will join current Telegael productions DaVincibles with Moonscoop and NEO Network, SpeedRacer: The Next Generation with Toonz and NickToons and The Woodlies with Flying Bark Productions and ZDF.
