Toronto, Canada-based animation company Toon Box has appointed Ria Westaway as executive in charge of Production, where she will spearhead the development slate for the company and oversee key hires, production budgets and scheduling of the company’s animated features and series.
Westaway’s career has spanned both film and television in the realm of both 2-D and 3-D animation. In 1998, she helped establish a 2-D digital ink, paint and compositing facility in the Philippines, subsequently developing a client base which included Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, Porchlight Entertainment and Top Draw. She later headed to Cinemaria in Montreal where she developed animated content for the Canadian, US and UK markets. In 2005, she added 3D feature films to her remit, serving as head of animation and production manager for Starz Animation and later went on to co-found Westwood Animation.
