Cartoon Network is teaming with the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) to launch the Move It Movement Tour, a new summer-long initiative that aims to encourage six- to 14-year-olds to get healthy and active.
The campaign launches on May 1st for National Physical Fitness & Sports Month and will travel to more than 30 markets nationwide through the joint efforts of participating cable affiliates. On-air and online media promoting the tour will also spotlight the Let’s Move In School initiative, a grassroots effort aligned with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign.
The Move It Movement tour will feature activity and learning stations, incorporating additional partner organizations as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, The President’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports, FDA’s Spot the Block, NBA/WNBA FIT and NFL Play 60 and HOPSports.
The tour is the latest extension of Cartoon Network’s Get Animated initiative and will be supported by on-air and online promotion from Cartoon Network and its participating cable affiliates, featuring occasional appearances by local professional athletes from the NBA and the NFL. Joining Cartoon Network as co-sponsors of the inaugural tour are 3M Nexcare products, Crayola, the FDA and Columbia Pictures’ The Karate Kid.
From May 1 to August 3 families will be able to participate in a host of themed activities, including a skate park challenge, soccer shootouts, an NBA/WNBA Activity Zone, and a Karate Kid martial arts challenge.
