People moves: BBC taps new director to lead Children’s at Salford Quays

With the Children's department moving to BBC North in 2011 and Richard Deverell stepping out of the division's directorial role, Joe Godwin has been tapped to fill the position in Beeb's new home in Salford Quays.

With the Children’s department moving to BBC North in 2011 and Richard Deverell stepping out of the division’s directorial role, Joe Godwin has been tapped to fill the position in Beeb’s new home in Salford Quays.

Come November, he’ll be responsible for all aspects of CBeebies and CBBC, putting 20 years of experience in children’s media to good use. Currently, Godwin is head of news, factual and entertainment for BBC Children’s, responsible for shows such as Newsround, Blue Peter and Serious.

He’s served as head of original production for Nickelodeon, and at the Beeb has occupied several roles, including head of entertainment at BBC Children’s, head of on-screen talent for CBBC and executive producer of several CBBC shows.
