There’s a new prodco on the block, as former Breakthrough Entertainment exec Kevin Gillis, along with Michael McLaughlin and Michael Iscove launch Skywriter Media and Entertainment Group.
The Toronto-based outfit will be involved in all areas, from development, production, marketing and distribution of original entertainment in children’s family and prime-time programming for worldwide TV, online, gaming and social media.
Gillis is taking the reins as CEO, with McLaughlin serving as president and Iscove as COO and CFO. Also joining the exec team is Paula McLaren to head up worldwide distribution, overseeing all areas of global sales, marketing and acquisitions.
Skywriter is financing, developing, producing, acquiring and distributing a range of programming and working on alliances with technology and digital media companies for content across all media. As well, the company will be focusing on creating advertiser-supported content opps in digital media. See the October issue of KidScreen for more scoop on Skywriter’s ad-supported business model and a peek at its development slate.
