With a US$209 million worldwide promo budget and the title of the most-expensive Spanish feature film in history, Planet 51 from Ilion Animation Studios and HandMade Films International is gearing up for its November launch.

Planeta Junior is repping the property for the Spanish, Portuguese and Italian markets and has already signed up a number of L&M partners, including Jazwares as the master toy licensee and video game developer Pyro Studios that’s developing a title to be distributed by Sega for Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and DS and PS3.

Zed Worldwide, meanwhile, is developing an interactive platform and mobile content and Burger King is on-board for a worldwide Kids Meal promo.

Alien comedy Planet 51 features an all-star voice cast (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Jessica Biel and John Cleese, to name a few) that follows the story of a US astronaut who’s convinced that he’s the first human to land on the title planet, to discover that it’s already inhabited by happy green creatures who fear invasion of foreigners.
