Having invited applicants to pitch an upbeat and humorous children’s TV series, BBC Worldwide Channels Australasia has announced a six-pack of local kids productions for its inaugural CBeebies Production Initiative, in association with CBeebies UK.

The series should bridge the gap between the four-to-six crowd for preschool channel CBeebies International. The finalists, who have been chosen from more than 100 entries, are invited to a formal pitch session in Sydney on Wednesday July 8.

Drum roll please:

Dayne Dreamable (Steam), Go Johnny Go (Beyond Productions), Lester C Leggs (Jumpfront and Animazing Productions), Penelope K (by the way (Blink Films), The Giggle Club (Buster Dandy Productions), The Greatest Show on Earth (Beyond Productions/The Content Agency)

The winning producer will come away with funding of up to US$250,000 per programming hour from BBC Worldwide Channels Australasia, with the commissioned production debuting on CBeebies in Australia and the UK, and on CBeebies’ other channels across the globe (India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Poland, Africa, Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market).
