Since making a comeback on China Central Television Kids Channel, SpongeBob SquarePants has brought in impressive kid and teen viewership, as the series took the number-one spot across all children/teenage programs/channels in 15 top cities, reaching 20.5 million sets of eyeballs.

CCTV has been telecasting the series since this past December at 9 p.m., and CSM Media found the yellow porous one finishing number one with kids between the ages of four and 14. Those between the ages of four and 14 comprise 45% of SpongeBob’s audience and the top cities with the highest average rating include Xi’an (11.1), Fuzhou (6.09), Wuhan (5.92), Tianjin (5.38), Shenyang (5.22) and Chengdu (5.21).

SpongeBob first aired in the territory, also on CCTV, in 2006.
