Former Kids WB! GM Betsy McGowen is stepping up and into a new role as president of newdance kids, the newly formed division of newdance from the Alan Ett Creative Group.
The division is focused on developing creative concepts and forming strategic partnerships to bring brands and broadcasters together. McGowen has been tapped to oversee newdance kids’ slate of programming, as well as shepherding product development, strategic planning, promotion, marketing, network relationships and production. To get the ball rolling, newdance picked up North American format rights to Kids Top 20, a Dutch live-action interactive music show that features young pop stars and kid-friendly music videos, targeting kids between six and 12.
The series has 45% average market share of its target demo in Holland, Belgium, France, Germany and Finland. Plans are also being made to bring the series across EMEA and China.
And McGowen is well-equipped to take the lead for newdance, coming to the company with years of experience at Kids WB! She served as SVP and GM on The CW and The WB children’s block, overseeing programming.
