With two books in the series published and a third slated for a March 3 release, Scholastic’s The 39 Clues has moved into the consumer products world, scoring a slate of new licensing deals.
University Games will roll out a range of puzzles, board and card games, building on the property’s elements of mystery and intrigue, and will also include exclusive clue cards to drive young detectives to www.39clues.com.
Meanwhile, this summer will see new partners Mead (calendar) and Trends International (journals, stationery) launching goods to play on the property’s adventure themes that Scholastic is set to leverage with a soon-to-be announced major promo partnership.
The multiplatform 39 Clues series launched in fall 2008 with the first book, The Maze of Bones followed by One False Note. Eight more books (including The Sword Thief this spring) and card packs are on the way over the next two years.
