LeapFrog is hopping into the toddler arena this fall with an aged-down version of its Tag Reading system for the under-fives.

The Tag Junior Pal is a character-driven handheld device with specially printed board books that kids two to four use for hands-on interaction, with a library that currently comprises nine classic and original books, some licensed including Curious George, Dora the Explorer and Winnie the Pooh. Kids can trigger the book pal to read aloud, hear sound effects and listen to music just by touching the book’s base anywhere on any page.

The library consists of several preschool themes, from sounds, colors, the alphabet, numbers and social play. The books will be available at www.leapfrog.com and at all major retailers for MSRP$34.99, with the board books at US$10.99.
