2008 was the year for Disney Online, as the kids entertainment and family community site at www.Disney.com attracted 28.9 million monthly unique visitors for the year.
The site also hit an all-time record last August, when it averaged 32.3 million unique visitors. On the video streaming side, the site averaged 136 million monthly video streams, placing it in the ranks of the top 10 video properties among all web destinations.
Its mobile site also posted growth, with an average monthly increase of 50% in page views since its October 2007 launch. More than 1.5 million minutes of audio were streamed and 68,000 custom character greetings generated.
According to comScore Media Metrix, several Disney online hubs scored high rankings in December, with Club Penguin as the number-one ranked kids’ virtual world (for monthly unique visitors), Disney Games sites ranked third in online games, DisneyShopping.com was number-two in the retail-toys, Disney Travel sites placed third among travel hotel/resort sites and DisneyChannel.com came in third among entertainment-TV sites.
