Pokémon finds new European home

Jetix Europe has struck a deal with Pokémon USA to air the 11th series of Pokémon on its channels across EMEA.

Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl: Battle Dimension will start airing on Jetix in the UK for the first time. Jetix Europe now holds pay-TV rights as well as TV VOD rights in certain territories for the 52 x 22-minute series.

In other Pokémon news, the company will host the first-ever Pokémon Video Game Showdown and the 2008 Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) World Championships in Orlando on August 16 and 17.

The action will start Saturday at 9:30 a.m. as the opening ceremonies kick off at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort.

To date the Pokémon franchise and its associated ancillary merchandising deals has generated in excess of US$27 billion at retail.
