THQ’s Nick games crack US$1 billion sales mark

Agoura Hills, California-based THQ has hit a milestone in the licensed video game sector. Sales of titles based on Nickelodeon properties have surpassed the US$1 billion mark, with more than 50 million units making their way into homes worldwide. To keep the momentum going, the company is set to release a slew of new Nick fare.

This year features titles include the video game debut of The Naked Brothers Band, while stalwart SpongeBob SquarePants gets the Nintendo DS treatment in Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants. Also on deck are new titles based on Tak and the Power of Juju, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Back at the Barnyard.

The 2008 Nickelodeon portfolio is scheduled to start rolling out this fall with games for the Wii, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS.
