Toronto, Canada-based Nelvana Enterprises’ rabbit siblings Max & Ruby will be bouncing their way into the spotlight this holiday season. TheatreworksUSA is mounting an off-Broadway show based on the 2-D series currently airing on Nick Jr. The musical is slated to reside at New York’s Lucille Lortel Theatre from December 12 to January 13, 2008, with tickets going on sale in September.

With an additional two touring companies bringing the musical to 210 US cities this fall and next spring, Nelvana estimates about half a million kids will see the spectacle that centers around Max and Ruby wanting to put on a play for their grandmother. The television series, produced by Nelvana Studios, is based on the books by children’s author Rosemary Wells.
