Still coasting on the success of live-action holiday blockbuster Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas, which grossed over US$200 million at the box office and attracted 85 licensees, Universal and Imagine Entertainment are developing an adaptation of Dr. Suess book The Cat in the Hat. Although the project is still in early development, Imagine is looking to Tim Allen to wear the red and white striped top hat in the lead role.

Universal plans to expand the entire Dr. Suess brand under its banner and already has a Cat in the Hat ride at its Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando, Florida.
