Coscient Group is changing its moniker to Motion International. The Montreal-based company and all its subsidiaries-including Productions Coscient, SDA Productions, SDA Panorama, OWL/SDA Productions out of Toronto, Cactus Animation, Allegro Films and distributor Motion International-will carry the Motion International trademark. The plan in the next year is to produce as much as two-thirds of the company’s show slate in English.
Motion (which is the second-largest indie prodco in Canada), and Montreal-based Mediatoon are working on the third season of Popular Mechanics for Kids, which was greenlit by New York’s Hearst Entertainment and Toronto-based Global Television, and the OWL/SDA series Hello Mrs. Cherrywinkle is being adapted for Tele-Quebec. PBS will air the live-action preschool series next season, and if all goes well, new eps will be produced for the network. LRB
