Simon & Schuster’s children’s publishing division is hoping to revive the Eloise property with a deal for a major book relaunch with illustrator Hillary Knight and the estate of the late Kay Thompson. Having obtained world dramatic and merchandise rights for the property, the publisher is planning to re-release the 1957 classic Eloise in Paris along with Eloise: The Absolutely Essential Edition this May. Additional titles Eloise at Christmastime and Eloise in Moscow will follow this fall and next spring respectively. The original Kay Thompson’s Eloise book featured a lovable spoiled child living at the Plaza Hotel in New York, and sold more than two million copies.
