The first-ever World Animation Celebration takes place March 24 to 30 in Pasadena, California, at the 3,000-seat Pasadena Civic Auditorium and surrounding venues.

The celebration brings together new and existing events, such as:

The 5th Los Angeles International Animation Celebration, a showcase of classic and contemporary animation featuring special tributes to the work of other countries;

The Animation Opportunities Expo, an annual industry trade show and employment fair;

The Animation Technology Exposition, an exhibition of the latest industry hardware and software; The World Celebration of Anime, a show organized by Animation Magazine to highlight this fast-growing art; and

The Animation Art Gallery Symposium, an exhibition and symposium for dealers and collectors from around the world.

Other features include an Internet colloquium, the cartoon cafe, and a multimedia pavilion, plus conferences, seminars, parties and screenings.

The festival’s core is The 5th Los Angeles International Animation Competition (LAIAC). Animation professionals will select winners in 37 categories from more than 2,000 entries. Over $150,000 in cash prizes, awards and commissions will be presented at a gala closing night ceremony.
