Plaza enters home video arena
Newly formed Plaza Entertainment enters the home video market under the direction of CEO Eric Parkinson. Plaza’s first release, The Legend of the North Wind, will hit the street November 5. The video is a Nelvana production revolving around kids and whales.
The launch of The Legend of the North Wind is being supported with a premium mail-in consumer offer for a plush toy whale. The promotion will also be supported with television, radio and consumer print advertising in selected markets.
For his part, Parkinson emerges from a year-long absence in the home video market since leaving his executive position at Hemdale Home Video. ‘I was at a point in my career where I needed to have my own company, not a minority share,’ says Parkinson. Tom Schon, who also worked at Hemdale Home Video, recently stepped into the position of president at Plaza.
